Lrnon

Languages

Lrnon is written in English today. Twelve languages are being added, and the rule for adding them is simple: a translation is shown to learners only after a person who reads that language has read it, line by line, and put their name to it. A machine can write a first draft. It is never published as it is.

That rule is here because lessons carry dated claims about tools that change, and a translation that quietly turns "usually" into "always", or 40 into 14, would teach something false with Lrnon's name on it. When the English changes, a translation made from the older English comes off the site until it has been checked again, so it cannot go out of date without anyone noticing.

What a translation covers

The lesson text, its objectives and its flashcards, and the menus and footer. Tool names, product names, commands and code stay exactly as they are in English, and so do the dates and sources, because those are the facts a lesson rests on. Every translated lesson links back to its English original, and if the two ever disagree, the English is right.

Not yet translated: Sky, the quiz bank at the end of each module, and some buttons. They stay in English until they have been checked in your language too.

Help check a language

If you read a language on this list well, and you understand the subject well enough to notice when a sentence says something slightly different from the English, you can be the person who checks it. It is a few lessons at a time, with your name on the lessons you check, and you can stop whenever you need to.
