What it’s typically good at
Claude, built by Anthropic, has a reputation for long-document work — reading, summarising, comparing, and answering questions across large files or several documents at once — and for writing that reads naturally, with a style many find less template-like. It’s a common choice for contracts, reports, research digests, and drafting where tone matters. Coding assistance is another frequently cited strength.
What to keep in mind
- Reputation ≠ guarantee. “Known for” reflects common experience at the time this card was verified; model tiers on all sides move quarterly. Test on your tasks — E2’s closing lesson gives you a fair method.
- Long context is not infinite context. Bigger windows still have edges, and material can still be skimmed unevenly. For a critical document, ask section-by-section questions rather than one giant “summarise everything”.
- Same machinery, same failure modes. Long-document strength does not suspend E1·L7 — a fabricated detail inside an otherwise faithful summary is precisely the failure to watch for. Spot-check quotes against the page they claim.

Ask Claude: “Summarise this in five bullet points, then list three things a careful reader should double-check, citing the section each comes from.” Verify one citation yourself.
